Golden milk with oxymel: a warming evening ritual

Golden milk — haldi doodh in Hindi — is one of Ayurveda's oldest daily practices. Turmeric in warm milk, often with black pepper and warming spices, has been used for centuries to support healthy inflammation response and promote restful sleep.

ingredients

  • 1 cup oat milk (or milk of choice)
  • 1 tablespoon Human Nature Elderberry Oxymel (or any oxymel)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of black pepper (increases turmeric absorption)
  • 1 teaspoon raw honey (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • Pinch of ground cardamom (optional)

directions

  1. 1.Warm the milk gently in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Do not boil — you want it warm enough to drink but cool enough to preserve the oxymel's enzymes (around 110–115°F).
  2. 2.Add turmeric, cinnamon, black pepper, and cardamom. Whisk until smooth.
  3. 3.Pour into your favourite mug. Let it cool for 1–2 minutes.
  4. 4.Stir in the oxymel and honey. The oxymel should be added after heating to preserve its raw, living properties.
  5. 5.Drink slowly. This is a ritual, not a task.

notes

Adding oxymel at the end brings a tangy, complex depth and the living benefits of raw apple cider vinegar and raw honey. The vinegar's acetic acid supports digestion; the honey soothes and nourishes.

This is our favourite way to wind down at the end of the day. Make it a ritual. Make it yours.
